Just lifted this from Dicky Valentines Website.........
A VANISHED FRIEND
Around the corner I have a friend.
In this great city that has no end;
Yet days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year has gone.
I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race.
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine.
We were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
Tomorrow I say, I will call on him,
Just to show that I think of him.
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And the distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
Heres a telegram; He died today.
And thats what we get, and deserve in the end,
Around the corner – a vanished friend.
Make sure this doesn't happen to you! _________________ One is hardly sensible of fatigue while he marches to music.
Wel done Twink I think it is very appropriate, and well done to Bill Hartland for sending it to Richards site in the first place. I will give you ten out ten for trying to drum up support for the Reunion, but you still havent answered my question WILL YOU BE THERE????? _________________ Mr bass trombone
