Hello all,
My names Digger, and I live onboard HMS Neptune, serving on HMS Vanguard.
I play the Alto Sax... I'm certainly not the best, and after a few years laid off playing, I dug my old Sax out, and started again, and am already looking to purchase a new, Yamaha or Yanagisawa sax.
I'd estimate I am around the Grade 2/3 mark, however, I might be blowing my own trumpet there
I'm sure most if not all of you understand that been based up here, and been away alot means the chances to get lessons is limited.
I thought I would join your forum and see what it's all about.
Hi Digger and welcome to the forum! I don't play for Neptune anymore (I did until 4 years ago but am now in Plymouth with Devonport Band). I'm sure one of the guys from Neptune will be along soon. I'm also sure they will make you more than welcome down the band room if you want to show your face to find out more about what is going on. Things might be a bit quieter than usual at the moment though - we are all just back from our annual competition and quite often the bands have a bit of a break.
Anne (flute / piccolo player, Drake / Devonport band).
PS pass on my regards to the Imps and Royal (if they are still there!) _________________ "If you think you are too small to be effective then you've never been in bed with a mosquito"

Hi Digger! A warm welcome to the world of Vollie Banding! (I played for Neptune once when they had a clarinet-player-sized hole in the band and I happened to be carrying a clarinet)
I'm the new VBI as of last week. It would be great if you would be able to come to any rehearsals we have. At the moment I'm trying to boost our numbers within the band, so now would be a great time to join!!
Hi Digger
Just seen your post. Please do come along to the band I'm the only clarinet player in the mili band and only regular alto sax player in the big band so would love some company!
I am a music teacher so if you want some help brushing up on your technique (not sure if that's a bit direct?! ) please get in touch. Flinty (bandy) is based in the COSC and is very approachable so please feel free to pop down and chat to him.
