I remember that trip, photo and album (my father has my copy) very well........ish! How good is it to see all those faces again.
The trip was to Hamburg '78, and the hooker is there with hair! I think it was then that we flew out to HMS Hermes from RAF Manston in seakings with the gear slung below us on cargo nets. Alas, as luck would have it we lost some of the kit over board. I recall 'Scouse' Rogers trying to claim for an expensive, imaginary ghetto blaster, amongst other things, which were safely concealed in his MSD case, only to be told.... TOUGH.....MSD cases were designed to carry MSD's and nothing else. Nice try Scouse.
The rest of the trip is a bit of a blur, 1st foriegn trip, 17 years of age and to sin city of all places. Any recollections will be gratefully recieved.
It was also the swansong for Band Master Ernie Ward and Drum Major Andy Croft.

Interesting to note that two of the hornists in the pic are now deceased: Kev Kay and Billy O'Halloran.

The other hornplayers are Mark 'Vic' Faulkner, Neil 'Sylv' Sylvester and Ian 'Tit' Williams (I think!)

There are a few of my oppos as well: Dougie Graham, Sam Goldsworthy, Kev 'Lard' Wilson....

Incidentally, Ernie Ward, Ken Glentworth, Wally Walters, Steve Misson & Larry Andrews (on Trombone?) who are also in the photo, all live in Deal and Ernie Barnard, down the road in Folkestone.

Yes, I have the album here in work. As soon as we get a stylus for the record player I'll rip it down

I think that I am on the picture with Martin Graham, Jessie James, Rod Stewart, Dusty Millar, Mickey Barham, Steve Cook and I should imagine Dave Wilson. I remember Martin was a bit put out that he couldn't have all the cooked breakfast, that some of it was meant for me!!

Sam Goldsworthy (Euph pretty much retired!)
