Oh yes, but it has to be by special invitation. The Midday Dance is for the "gentry" of the town (of course Gill and I have danced!). The Captain and his wife get a place (usually somewhere near the middle) and usually pair up with the local MP. The last 8 couples at the end of the procession are invited from Culdrose and are usually Commanders, so Dave was very honoured!
To lead any of the four dances, though, you have to have been born in Helston.

In the first picture, just above Daves head, you can see the thatched roof of the Blue Anchor pub, famous for its Spingo ale!
