Audition in May

Heya chaps, well having been on the forum for a while now, and having indulged in many a fine thread (including monsoir Boltonboyz) I have finally put an application in. Past my Pre-Joining Fitness Test this morning, and so should hopefully make the audition week in May (at the expence of the HMS Nelson RNVB USA Trip). Any thoughts, adive etc totally welcome.
admin

What are you hoping to audition on?
Simple things... Corps History, How many bands and where they are, who is who (PDM etc).
Play something you are confident with but not too easy, enough to impress but not too much that you can't do it justice. Be calm, smart, confident and honest. Eyes are on you all the time even when you think they aren't (Gym!).
If you don't know an answer, don't guess, you'll probably be wrong and look silly. Ask questions; the brochures can't tell you everything so ask.
Nish

Well my primary instrument is Trumpet, so am auditioning on that, but am also auditioning on Bugle and Side Drum. Have been doing my research regarding the bands, and I keep up to date with the old Blue Band Mag which is a useful tool. Am heading over to the Royal Marines Museum tomorrow as well, do a bit of the old history research. I went over to the school and had a tour with C/Sgt Ian Davies the other week, that was a really useful time, sat and had a good chat with him after as well, very informative.
Apricot

Good luck with your audition FSC

but I reckon it's a crying shame you're not coming to Amercia with us now (very inconsiderate of the School)
General Melchett

Good luck Nathan, you know the drills mate.... or should do! PM me if you want anything from another serving SNCO
Nish

Yeah, Neil wasn't too impressed either, but hey ho, I guess I have to prioritise Hmmmmm...... America or Future Career................. Lol, oh well, I will miss not headin out to the states with you guys.
Pompey Rich

Oi. You better be here for the festival matey or else. I don't spend hours swearing at you whilst learning side drum for nothing.
Seriously Nathan good luck mate.
Nish

Cheers Rich. I'll be around for the festival, no worries!

I won;t be around this week at all, I'm lighting a show, but should be back next week.

Lighting a show as in stage lights or setting fire to?
Nish

It greatly depends on how stressful it becomes! Nah, as in stage lighting, they don't let me play with the pyrotechnics

The fire breathings just a bit of fun. He he
Apricot

Fire-breathing, cool - that'd make an interesting night at the pub...

Your username has changed since yesterday, I was confused there for a while, think I'm sorted now.
Hornblower

I'm with you on that one Apsx!

I was baffled for a mo too.

Maybe not a bad idea to change his name now and then...

He'll have to get used to being called a few "different" ones when he joins up...
Nish

Yeah, I thought it was nice to have a bit of a change every now and then. you know what they say, a change is as good as a holiday. I don;t feel like I've had a holiday though
Apricot

and you're not going on holiday with us now
Nish

I know I know, I'm gutted. Fancy having the nerve to put the auditions at exactly the same time as the US Trip, I tell ya, there's clearly no communication on that base!
admin

If they know what you have given up to do the audition it will show dedication... works both ways!
Apricot

Better make sure they know then.

*sends subliminal message*

Dear auditioners,

please select Nish because he gave up a whole week in the US with all the lovely Nelson Volly Dollys to do this audition.

Thank-you very much.

Nish

He he, its all good. Yeah tis a shame, but at the end of the day, how much more chuffed will I be if I make it into the Band Service.
Apricot

*couldn't possibly comment*

I'd rather spend a week in the s*** with the Chatham Dogends band..
Apricot

Rab you're such a charmer!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah..

Well I'm trying my hardest to be nice today, as it's ...Errr..emmmmmmmmmmm... ....

14th February....
Nish

Grrrrrrrrrrr..... Don't get me started on the flipping 14th of Feb. Such a commercial Scam! Ba hambug (if that particular phrase can be temporarily transferred to this 'happy day')
Apricot

To be fair I don't usually notice valentines either, but this year I've made an effort (well if you call setting up a webpage an effort that is), so don't discourage my temporary very girly girly-ness, it won't last long!!!!!!

*flutters eyelashes*

Quite agree.....bought the current Mrs JP a new bag and belt for the occasion and she`s still pi$$ed off!

Oh well at least the hoover is picking up better
Nish

Thanfuly I have managed to convince my better half that Valentines day is a mere commercial scam, so we have compromised and we're only expected to do a card, nothing else (occasionally dinner, but to be honest trying to find an evening we're both free is mission impossible).

Ooohh. not tried that one.
Nish

Its definately worth a go! Works wonders for me. Don;t get me wrong, its not cos I'm totally heartless or anythign like that, I just refuse to be lulled in by commercialism on something which is just a money grabbing con!
bootybandy

Wooooossssshhhh
MrJpig

It`s all right Botty....once he starts training proper ...then he will learn the finer points of sarcasm!! Good luck Nish
Nish

He he, sorry was a little tired, and not paying to much attention, I didn;t catch on to the sarcasm from up there on my soapbox
bootybandy

Looking at your signature Nish, I think you have the makings of a very fine RMB, if a little mis-guided.
Nish

Please to elaborate monsoir Bootybandy.

Yeh ...go on
Nish

sorry, meant please DO elaborate. Oh dear I was tired.
bootybandy

Well I mean....Trumpet or Side Drum?? Need I go further.
Errol

Now for something completely different.
Whats your forcast on tomorrows game Pompey vs The Toon
Siegfried

Tuff one Errol - but think Pompey may shade it...sorry mate.

(...but don't tell my daughter..)
Errol

I never mind the result(liar) so long as it is a good game SF.
Both teams have been running hot and cold of late.
Born in Newcastle there has only been one team for me NUFC
Siegfried

You forgot - we both lost strikers - Henry and Shearer...

Enough to cause any teams to stutter !
Errol

Ours was 'Swan Vesta's'SF. We hav'nt any more in the
box like him.
RAB

..Mr JP has been kind enough to open a footie banter thread in coffee boat chaps/esses...

Please try and condense the terracing talk into that thread. You'll probably find it will become most entertaining and hillarious...

I for one look forward to the differing opinions and crowd trouble in the thread...

I thenk yu..............
