Just lifted this from Dicky Valentines Website.........

A VANISHED FRIEND

Around the corner I have a friend.
In this great city that has no end;
Yet days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year has gone.

I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race.
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine.

We were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

Tomorrow I say, I will call on him,
Just to show that I think of him.
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And the distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,
Heres a telegram; He died today.
And thats what we get, and deserve in the end,
Around the corner – a vanished friend.

Make sure this doesn't happen to you!
Mr Bass Trombone

Wel done Twink I think it is very appropriate, and well done to Bill Hartland for sending it to Richards site in the first place. I will give you ten out ten for trying to drum up support for the Reunion, but you still havent answered my question WILL YOU BE THERE?????
bootybandy

Well - it keeps us active I suppose!!

(I don't mean the beer - I mean the baiting of me ol' mucker Mick. He's not biting though is he?)

C'mon Mick try to wind us up a bit more?

Maybe you're saving it for next years reunion? (That's if you're going of course. Dirty stayaway shoot-through b'stard)

..Waaaaaaaaaaah..Check "at the bar" Stu...
FFoglamp

He has to come over for every reunion, just to get a break away from that chemical shite they call San Miguel !!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr Bass Trombone

No I come becuase I like the company and I like it at the bar when young lads buy me a G&T thats in the RMA but then when it gets round to my turn at Sunday Wethers you are not there, I always said that you youngsters could not stand the pace. And as for San Miguel it beats the $hit out of Tetley's and John Smiths smooth flow, can't be doing with top preasure beers, give me a pint of Bass, or Gales Hsb or Greene King Abbot and then you are talking real ale not crap.Partial to a drop of Adnams as well, I suppose all real ales will do.
RAB

..Crikey Mick, I see you still do your "breathing from the diaphram" excercises. You hardly came up for a breath there...
lesbryan

It may beat the sh5te uot of tetleys and john smiths out there .But it certainly does not up here in its homeland |||
Mr Bass Trombone

I agree , but then again I would not drink smooth flow even in Yorkshire, I would take a drop of Tetleys from the hand pump as I did many, many years ago when I frequented ale houses in the Sheffield area, but is was many, many years ago.
Hornblower

How many, many?
lesbryan

I like john smiths rough as we call it up here(hand pump).but tetleys as gone of the boil up here realy (it is not brewed in leeds now||.There are one or two places you can get a good pint of tets but not many left now.In days gone by melbourne bitter was the drink it beat tetleys. One from one side of the aire and one from tuther
Mr Bass Trombone

Many Many my Ickle til. Long before you were hatched probably,I will give you a clue the first RMB American tour year was 19?????, and I was supping in the area before that year.

Stu

I think he's lost the plot......

Lift doesn't go to the top floor......

Sandwich short of a picnic.....

A light is on but no one's in......
Hornblower

Hey Bob!

Don't be so cruel to old Mick!!!

He was never a bad egg and I enjoy giving him a gentle ribbing.

At least we know who we're 'dissing'!!!!!!

Mick - keep the ramblings coming M8. I enjoy knowing that there are people out there in forum land that are older than me. (Many Many years older than me!)

You keep my mind active trying to fathom exactly what you're on about

BTW are you going to the reunion this year? I'm thinking about it...

What underhand goings on are taking place here?

Bribery, me thinks!

Still, MBT :smt028 being an aged ex-pat whose brain has been cooked by the spanish sun and as MBT always states that he is drinking mucho of the local hops , he is probably in too much of a befuddled state to realise or take note of any of this.
MrJpig

Well if any evidence was needed to prove my innocence....he didn`t show!!
2nd Clarinet

Probably sleeping it off.
In these 'Costa' Retirement Communities, the staff sit the oldies (MBT) in the sun on the veranda. It's good for them you know!
Mr Bass Trombone

Well Mr 2nd Clarinet you have certainly nailed your colours to the mast, I know who to buy wets for and who not to and one must remember that at sometime the empire strikes back.As I have been absent from place of duty for the last week with Royal British Legion, I hope those of you that may have placed bets on me Aving a go and as to how quickly I would reply to Mr 2nd Clarinet have'nt lost to many beer tokens, you may well need them in October whilst on that subject briefly I have my ticket have you got yours????
Adios Mi Amigos.

MrJpig

Where oh where would we all be
If we turned up at Pompey, for our reunion tea
and at the bar there was no MBT
would it be due to SM intoxity?

Hey Jpig...dDo you know what I think?

Something erroneous happens to our emails when it crosses over the international border of Spain and goes into 'El Internet Español', or comes the other way.
I say this because I've yet to see Mick keep on the same thread as everyone else.
