Hello all up there. I will be joining Neptune in January from sunny Plymouth and was thinking of joining your band if you will have me. I have been playing 1st clarinet in Plympton  orchestra for the past 10 years and also tenor and baritone  sax I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction,

You'd be more than welcome to join the Band. Neptune has rehersals on a Tuesday night at the Clyde Off Site Centre in Rhu from 1930 til 2130ish. Bandy's name is Flinty and if you send Quasijock (Steve) a personal Message from this site then he will give you Flinty's work and mobile number.

Look forward to seeing ya!!!!

Hi there VoR,
We now rehearse in the base church; Monday night 1930-2130 Big Band and Tuesday night 1930-2130 Wind band.  You will be most welcome to come along to both/either night.
Just PM me and i will send you details and contact numbers.
Axl

Since when did we rehearse in the church? Shows how long it's been since I've been up there. (And can I bring my own AFFF in case I spontaneously combust?)

You have that problem with churches too? Let me know if you find a solution, the burn marks are a pain to get out of clothes....

I find a light sprinkling of holy water over ones face can determine the suitability of the right to torture music in gods abode (I ain't been burnt yet!)...and anyways, it's not god's house if he hasn't signed the mortgage agreement and kept up with the payments????

Sorry not been on in a while, I'm on leave, and been learning to drive, sorting out christmas.

Cool you're practicing on the base now

when I get back up there I will pop on down for a bit of a go... Had to leave my sax up there when I came home, not enough arms to carry everything on the train.

I don't know what kinda band I'd best suit?

Hello Voice of Reason and welcome to the forum!  I'm in Plymouth now and play for the Naval Volunteer Band in Drake.  What is the Plympton orchestra you mention?  I live in Plympton and am desperate to  get back into orchestral playing but have not heard of them.  Any info would be great - feel free to pm me :).

In the mean time, enjoy Neptune.  They taught me many , many , many things (hopefully by now they've stopped recounting the stories   ) and are a fantastic group of people.  You'll be hard pushed to find a better lot of mates

Anne
