congratulations Axl

well done to Axl who has now made the dizzy heights of 2nd Piccolo.

If he keeps posting at this rate he'll make solo picc just in time for the stupidly fast and dizzily high solo in let's rock... Anne standby!!
Axl

Let's rock? Let's have a gentle stroll in the park, followed by a small helping of blancmange more like! The Middy is what you want.

*note to everyone, the above is a lie. Anne, it's still all yours*
greenfairy

I still think the rankings on here are all wrong - why are the woodwind ones all at the bottom???
ZedHorn

I shan't answer that properly :-)

however I think it's supposed to be like a marching band - you liquorice lickers at the back, trombones and tubbies up front just behind the drum corps - quite exactly where a bass guitar fits in is a little beyond my blonde brain!

Yup, that's about the sum of it!
The bass guitar was a temporary measure to pad the band out. There is a thread here somewhere about forum ranks and your ideas. Someone suggest something and I'll make it so (a rank structure that is).
Big Ted

Tubbies

I object to the phrase "tubbies" up front!!!!

Big Ted (Tubbie player)
Axl

I agree. It should be tubby, in the singular.
Big Ted

Be afraid......very afraid............I think i might hire a clown costume and attend band camp....at night.....!!

All I was saying is the drum major could do with losing a few pounds.
Hornblower

I'm just pleased to see that l'il ol' Apricot (Apsx) has made it to the dizzy heights of Solo horn!!!

Well done Apsx.

All you need is a special German- Gromit -double- hexy- expresso to make your pupils the size of dinner plates and you'll be off, like James Gallway on acid!

Think long and hard before saying that, then ask those on the bus who witnessed the aftermath.
It was one of those "special" Koln moments!
ZedHorn

anyone got a portable battery operated coffee machine for band camp??
Axl

Zed, as I've said before, we will have electricity. If you want to bring something electrical, feel free. (Battery powered appliances are optional.)
ZedHorn

yippee... this is like a posh band camp... I noticed the other day Tesco are doing good offers on Pot noodles at the mo so stock up now for Koln 09!
greenfairy

Axl wrote:

I'll bring it if you bring extra batteries
Gromit

If you have make sure the buttons are in English (otherwise don't ask me to get you a mug of coffee from the machine unless you want to be a hyperactive-puppy for 4 hours).
Big Ted

Woof Woof!!!
ZedHorn

Axl

Cornwall actually, maid! You drive through it to get to the Eden Project. They also hold the West of England Brass Band contest there.

She meant mentally !!

Axl

I love you too Gromit (I think)!
Princess Fiona

Sorry to barge in on the axl's thread but I've made it to solo clarinet.  So no more posts from me as I'd be in danger of becoming a brass instrument!! yuk
ZedHorn

Marie it's ok - work hard enough and you'll become a stringist then a blinkin' drummer!  lord help us all....
Anne Picc

Enough about drummers - they have their uses

Are we going for the most number of drifts in one thread here?
Axl

If you think this one is drifting about a bit, you should see the three word story!
Axl

Aaaarrrrgghh! I've been "promoted" to cornet! How is that a step up?
greenfairy

It means the guy in front of you on parade has collapsed and you've had to fill his gap as you trample over him....
ZedHorn

carry on and you'll be horny before you know it!
bassdrumal

Horny?? Now keep it clean

Says 2nd Pic - I mean, come on...me?  2nd Pic?  Surely I should be third at least !!!
bassdrumal

Unless anyone wants to make me their First....Any Takers?
greenfairy

I want a shiny new rank now...been ages since I last changed to whatever it is I am...ah yes, a whalloping bass trombone
Bobw

Apricot

Apricot

Axl - always wondered, how do you get the internet on a submarine???
Big Ted

He hasn't been on a submarine since they invented the internet.........he's been to Cologne, walked the Cumbrian hills, visited Neptune, been to Brighton, attended band camp, marched at band fest, been up a tower in Gosport.................but to my knowledge never been on a submarine.............oh and told stories about a trout!!!
Axl

ZedHorn wrote:

Very very slowly.
greenfairy

Have I had a promotion yet?

*impatient*
greenfairy

Argh, I'm a drummer
Axl

Drummer;
someone who hangs around with musicians.
greenfairy

Well I don't do that so I'm ok then
admin

Musician: Wannabe drummer
Gromit

Boy: Mummy, when I grow up I want to be a drummer.

Mum: Sorry Son, but you can't do both.

Now that I like.  How very true (from one that knows   )
Big Ted

I'm hurt...........very hurt.............I play tuba and drum!!!!!

Major sulk...............may even throw teddies out of pram!!!!

Big Ted
greenfairy

But Big Ted, I only don't want to be a drummer because I know I'm not good enough to do it justice!

Even if you had to, I still don't think you would.
greenfairy

I don't think you could!

But that's ok cos we love you just as you are
Big Ted

You mean people love drummers!!!!! .....................I'm touched!!!
Axl

SOME people love SOME drummers. It's a rare, yet wonderful thing, so I'm told.
Anne Picc

Rare, wonderful and highly educational - I can now do paradiddles (ish) and can tap out a fair combination of 1st and 2nd parts to Centenial (I probably can't spell it though).  Last year, I even learnt some of the stick drill.  Not bad for a 4 year apprenticeship

I'm still crap at cymbals though and Dolly can't get anywhere near eagle squadron on the picc - maybe that means he's a better teacher than me.  Can't think what else it could mean
ZedHorn

it means the picc part to eagle squadron is only playable by uberspesh people!!!
little ted (grrs)

drummers are all very very special !!!!!! :D me inclueded of corse!! going by this rule how come zed or grom are not drummers? hmmmm
ZedHorn

I'd explain but I'd have to check with your Dad first!!!
little ted (grrs)

zed ur just a big meany
Gromit

Ahhh - thanks wee chap (I think you meant special in a good way)! I do swish the odd jock pom pom every now and then so does that count?
little ted (grrs)

yeh guess zed just aint cool enuf :D and yes spesh as in a good way ;)
Axl

I have been known to bash a bass drum, and crash the odd cymball. Well, the even cymballs, as it tends to make more noise when there's two.
ZedHorn

i played bass drum in Koln this year does that count!!!
Big Ted

Zed, You are a honorary drummer...........because you are speshal!!

Princess Fiona

Sorry musicians, i was tempted to the dark side
