I thought they'd be sturdier when used as a cricket bat

Being regarded as an expert, baaaaaaaaaaas was asked by a music theory student "What is the range of a String Bass"? After carrying out his own research, he replied ........."Approximately 10 yards"!!
(9.1m) for the younger readers!!

You live and you learn I guess.
Baaaaaaaaaaass

Old Man Tullet dropped it off the back off a Herc in Washington, so I guess he learned that double basses don't bounce.

That much.

Was that another one sat on by a certain clt/vla/recording-desk fellow?!

If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well!

He missed a bit, I think that one's repairable!!!!!

Sorry to sound like the silly old Phrrrrrrrt guys (and gals)...BUT..

Way back in the early '70's, the Rosyth Dockyard RN Drivers were having some disputes with their 'Employers', and fought hard to have the RMB transported in their blue cattle floats...

Worried more about the card school table being upset than the safety of instruments, (or vice versa), a certain D.ofM. asked me to dismantle a Double Bass in such a manner as to show it had been damaged in transit.....

NO 'KIN PROBLEM...

Not to suck up to the DOM (as nobody can ever accuse me of doing), but to keep my 'just in front of the back wheels' place in the card school, the job was done during a nightmare journey from Rosyth to Faslane for a Wardroom..

Did I have a spare bass on board for the gig..???

Will I be sober at 2200 in Rosyth tomorrow..?????
Baaaaaaaaaaass

Must've been one of them bass viols if it was way back in the 70's.

Oh, you know I'm just joshing.

It's all part of the Bandy humour thingy.

Apart from the tipping. I never really understood that.
