Actually, you have hit the nail on the head. I'm hoping to pick up some new tunes for our buglers etc, and find out what you guys like to play!

Have seen you play a few times including Beating The Retreat this year, and the concert at the Albert Hall (can't remember what it was called - not the Festival of Remembrance). We took several members of our band to both events.

Yes mate...it was a welcome wind up for you and DAN A. (See DAN A on an Elephant in Slingapore).... He has a Ball of wool also referred to as a Bert on his head...confused...so am I..... but I just thought it looked like a piece of millinery that suited the name JAZHAZ.......now promise me you are not always going to be this hard work. Welcome

Hi JazHaz

I used to sit next to someone from your band when i played in the University of Bath wind band, quite a while ago. He would be about 30 now, and I think he was called Dominic and played trumpet. I don't know if he might have moved back into the area when he left Uni? I remember being a bit jealous that your band was featured on Blue Peter that year!

Welcome to the forum.

My old mate Dave Smale ( who can occassionally be found here ) [and when i say occassionally, i mean occassionally, like twice ever]
came from Enfield ! I wonder if he was in the scout band.

My secret link between scouts and Enfield ----:

I played the Enfield Band Champs at Alexandra Palace with the 14th Eastleigh Scout Band in .............1973. We came nowhere, thats cos we were shite.

Then I grew up left school and joined up !!!!!

Anyway Jaz Haz, Hi.
geekygirl

Is that the Eastleigh scout band that is still going, also know as the spitfires? Just wondered as i live near there.

Yes, the very same ! Not called the spitfires back in early 1970s. I live near there (again) too.

Yeah I think I remember him. I was not in the Band when it was on Blue Peter, but there is a chance for us to be on it again next year, after we do the London New Year's Day Parade 2007.

RM School of Music, Deal

In the 1980's I remember going to the School of Music in Deal with the Band on a day trip. Not sure of the year, but probably around 1983/1984!

We learned drill, and had instruction on our various instruments. I seem to remember learning a drum solo called Tarabewky. I'm not sure how that should be spelled, does anyone know?

Click here to listen to a practise recording we made of it (not the recording we made at Deal though - not heard that for years lol).
