Drum Major 'Charlie' BowdenHaving just left Senior House and joined the Staff Band I was only slightly confident on my first CO's Parade. The band was in Full Ceres - no idea why. I was looking good - always did like the dressing up - but not good enough for Charlie Bowden. He spotted a small amount of white paint on the green underside of my helmet (Pith Helmet for those...........)
"Why have you got white paint on the green lining of your helmet?" This asked in a civil, confidential manner.
"I can't get it off, Drum Major."
"He's got white paint on the green bit of his helmet," standing back and announcing this so all could here. "I'll tell you what gets it off shall I?"
"Yes please, Drum Major."
"GREEN PAINT!"
