RNA Parade - HELP WANTEDThe Reading RNA are celebrating their 70th anniversary with a Drum Head service and parade. This is in Brook Barraks, Oxford Road, READING on Sunday 16th September.
Nelson Band need help. Are there any Volunteers out there that can come out to play for this event?
Looking for Cornet / Clarinet players in particular but all offers of help will be most welcome.
Please let your Bandy know or contact me directly.
Thanks

Reading is a bit far for us Seahawks to fly. If you are desperate though (and don't mind a few light blue uniforms in your band!) you could try the RAF Halton Voluntary Band. As far as I know the bandmaster is Mr Mike Pegram 01296 656358.

Funny that - I just asked an RAF Halton player (clarinet) if they were interested in doing this one, and they weren't sure 'cos their uniform wouldn't match!

Tell them I have been in HMS Seahawk for 17 years and have only once been bullied into a naval uniform! Unfortunately there is a photo as it was Phil Lambton's last engagement at Culdrose. It is not what uniform you wear that matters, it is the willingness to get stuck in that makes the Volunteer Bands what they are!

Saying that, I have had people tell me that they looked for me at a parade but couldn't pick me out.....
Clue one - I was the only player in RAF uniform.
Clue two - I was the only trombone player.
How many more clues did they need!

We had a mix'n'match of uniforms at this year's festival in the Nelson band - other bands even more so, so I can't see any reason against it.

Thank you Bobw. I'll give this it a go. For quite a few reasons I'm short of players for this parade. As has been said - it's the willingness (and availablity) to take part that will interest me. Many bands mix-n-match uniforms.
