Scholarships?

Hi Faith - we're all volunteer musicians civilian or serving in some capacity but not as a musician. We don't get paid, can get an instrument on loan but can only blag a free lesson from our conductor/bandy/boss/stick waving numpty if we like/need/are lucky/say please/bribe him with beer!

Scholarships aren't our thing in volunteer band world - maybe try the Royal Marines bands forum; careers office subsection if you want to ask about training to be a proper military musician.

hope that helps Zed

Pass,  but hello anyway

Hi Faith. Further to Zeds comment, look left on the screen to 'Royal Marines Bands Forum' click on there and ask the pro's.

Good luck.

What? You mean we're not pros? (And that's without the appostrophe, as it is non-posessive.) Oh, you mean pro as in short for propper musician? Them that take it all far too seriously? Then no, I guess we're not. Since when did we ever let playing music get in the way of a good beer? Band is just something we do before going to the pub.

Before the pub?!  Slack hammocks young man. You need to change your instrument to one you can play with one hand, allowing you to drink on the stand.

PS - do you want me to write out my last post 100 times in my best writing?

I use a big elastic band to hold the pen against my paw.  The after band lessons are for something else!
