Squeegy Band 1975

It's been a wet Sunday after the match and I have been busy on the scanner......
One or two old and bold might recognize a couple of these misfits.

bootybandy

A picture showing a few more of the band.
bootybandy

Ooh...There's pretty.
bootybandy

If I asked you to name them, then that would be relatively easy. What I want is the name of the person that was in this Band at this time, but didn't make this photo call. Think about the instrumentation, and then the person should be quite easily named.

Is it you?
I recognise a couple of faces, well, 3 in fact... and John as a Drum Major!
Hornblower

Willie Thorne?

Hornblower

I'm still worried about what JC is doing 'down there' and so is Roger J by the way he's looking at him...
MrJpig

I`m surprised the H&S bods haven`t made it compulsory for Bulgers to wear ear defenders in front of trombone holders
RAB

A few of my fellow 'joined up with' oppos in that one Brian..

Bruno Brown..Mick Holder..Pat Hill.

Also see Pat Butterly..Mick Sproston..Yourself..Steve Shutt..Roger Jones..John Cowdrey..Chris Kelly..Dick Soulsby...

Don't know who the missing rank is mate, but I'm sure there's a story about it..
bootybandy

I'll give a litttle clue. It's not me....or Willie Thorne (Stu). but he is a Tenor Sax Player. He was on board, and nothing untoward was happening, he just missed the photo shoot.

Kofff....
Hornblower

Hair today - gone tomorrow!!!!

Sorry about the 'nanas - they were there, so I clicked 'em...
Hornblower

I don't get it - if Steve Shutt is there (Tenor) why would you have another?

Surely having a hornist would be preferable!
townsergeant

Big Ron Turner on Bass Drum, John Dunn, Ian Clarkson, Pete Usher, Mark Gittings? (Trombone) Sean Mason? (Bulger)

Tenor Sax? Dunno!

Hmmmmm, having said that - any saxomathingyist that's stood to my right in the past may not agree...

I guess the LOUD right notes were just about OK, but the wrong LOUD ones?
bootybandy

Steve Shutt, as I'm sure you are aware was principally a Flautistician and not a Saxamaphonist. We did have a Horn player later, at the cost of a cornet holder, but still the Tenor Saxamaphonist is missing from the line up......
Hornblower

Oh yeah!

Of course he played flaut!!!!

The reason I remember him on Tenor was him vomiting down the mouthpiece (or whatever you call it) when the Queen Mother was reviewing the bulgers at Dartmouth.

It made a really funny noise - a squelchy sort of wet noise sort of noise...

BTW - I'm talking about the vomit down the Tenor, not the QM inspecting the bulgers...
bootybandy

The good thing about being "Sick in a Sax" (Ooh, I like that...sounds good.."Sick in a Sax".."Sick in a Sax".."Sick in a Sax"..) Is that there is a gert big bell to catch the vomit in. I suppose it would gurgle if you played the lower notes, but otherwise you could get away with it.......
Hornblower

Thanks for that Botty!

Now - be a good egg and give us another clue will ya?
bootybandy

OK. He played the Saxaphone and the Violin. He ate loads of potatoes and never put on any weight (B'stard) He really enjoyed his cars. A Ford Zodiac Mk VI was his favourite.
Hornblower

bootybandy

Well I can't help it if you don't know who he is can I? If I wanted to tell you his name there would be no point in me asking for you to get the grey matter shaking would there?

OK, one final clue. He was in Ganges before he went onto the Ark

Noah?
bootybandy

Of all the people that I was expecting to give that answer, you were on top of the list Deli. So well done BZ

and I would have been a very close 2nd!
bootybandy

Of course, and the list does grow as well....

Anyway, one more clue for HB and this time it's a visual one.......

Tenor Sax on the right file..

BTW this picture was taken of the Band for the ceremony of crossing the Line where you can see King Neptune in the background on board a tractor....

Hornblower

According to assorted DoMs and Drum Majors, I crossed the line on many occasions - but the resulting ceremony left me without any head dress and never involved King Neptune

Wasn't allowed to salute either...
Hornblower

Was the tenor ever a dogend Bri?
bootybandy

Ha.....
I too crossed the line and ended up on the carpet. On several occasions I did salute and keep my hat on.....consequentially speaking of course.
townsergeant

I'll have a guess....

Frank 'Wiggy' Bennett?

Was there more than one Frank 'Wiggy' Bennet...??

The one I know was at Sterf Bend then FOSNI with me...

..And he was a stick-licker....
townsergeant

I saw Frank the other night.....I should have asked him!

Guess we'll have to wait for Botty to get back from his hols (again!)

When I said Wiggy Bennett, I meant to say: Brian Tupper...

(Thumb up bum and brain in neutral, Rab!)
