Vollies do the USA!

Seeing as Nelson had so much help from the other bands for this trip, I figured the best place for dits & photos thread would be here rather than in the Nelson forum. Blame too much sleep for making me think too much as I've just spent 17 blissfully unconscious hours

Anyway, I'm going to set up a Photobucket account for trip photos so if anyone wants to upload theirs to it then PM me and I'll give you the username & password to do so.

Chatter on folks - it was an honour and pleasure to spend a week in the sunshine with you and congrats all round for no one passing out during that parade. We rock!!!

My pics (not many as I was too busy talking shite to take many) will be up later, I've got to help my grandparents move house now! No rest for the wicked
Wee Mac McDrums

Thanks everyone

Just a wee note to say a big thanks to Nelson band (and, of course, Nelson Bandy) for a fantastic trip to Portsmouth, Va.

We may not have passed out on parade but I think everyone passed out on the flight back home!!!

A big congratulations to everyone who helped (and sorry to those who I upset!)

Hope we gig together again soon
greenfairy

How about apologies to those who still have teeth scars on their thumb as well hun?

And a piccie to sum up the trip

(click to enlarge - if only more things in life worked that way )
ANTS

Couldn't agree more...

It was a fantastic trip and many thanks to Neil for all his hard work organising.
I made many new friends from Neptune, Sultan and Heron and look forward to meeting you all again at the festival.
Roll on next year if we get invited back..

ps - Should have all the photos sorted by the weekend
greenfairy

Yay for photos!

nah, thats mild.....i think the 'spot the jock' photo will have to be posted
greenfairy

Oh yes indeedy!

How about spotting the fruit who was really getting in to the USA spirit.....

or some strange person with a hat fetish (as long as they match her shoes)

A

greenfairy

A, you really really really have to come with us next time. We missed you and I need to around to make sure I behave and don't get corrupted so easily.....
Wee Mac McDrums

Spot the Jock?????

Ants,I have no idea what you mean by Spot the Jock!!

We tend to blend quietly into the background,

Keep ourselves to ourselves,

Quietly tend to the livestock,

Raid the occasional English border outpost.....

We are a timid nation (with exceptions!!!)
Apricot

I wasn't doing any corrupting, just borrowing hats! Shame nobody snapped the easy-rider impersonations!!!! and before anyone asks that pickie was taken about 9am in the morning so it's coffee in the cup!

I had a fab trip, thanks to all non-Nelsonites for joining us and to all the Nelsonites for making it. Roll on next year
devildog946

i was the guyin the backround filming the entire show, It was awsome!!!
Apricot

I'm thinking you're one of the exceptions WMM
Apricot

Sorry devildog wasn't paying that much attention to the audience more squinting at the music through my shades (when we were allowed to wear them!)
Wee Mac McDrums

Video??

Devildog, were you the guy who me and my drummers performed an exclusive show for, just by the waterfront and the flag landing steps?

Once a Bulger always a Bulger......
General Melchett

1. Mac, you still upsetting people?
2. GF, nice hat - a wee bit too jaunty though!
The Donkey

I know a joke about a cowboy hat.

It also involves an armadillo and a fire hose,.,.

Actually, that's probably best saved for another ocassion..............
General Melchett

That reminds me of a limerick I know:

There once was a young girl from Nantucket........

Come to think of it, that's probably best saved for another occasion!
The Donkey

Along with the one which starts,

There was a young woman who performed stunts.......
General Melchett

Now that is quite enough of that young Donkey!
The Donkey

Have you met her too then!!!!
General Melchett

I said, that's enough!

Mac's good at upsetting people it seems!

And I like that hat too - not as good as the one with a nice shiny knob on the top but still....and my cowboy hat is the best

More photos will be on their way at some point. Just been at rehearsal trying to remember how to play flute.....really wasn't sounding good
A

Whereas I was honking away with joy. God bless saxophones and all who sail in them.
General Melchett

Booty, you are a bad, bad man.

That's the way to go. Right or wrong, make it strong...Yeah !!!

GM -

1. Me, upsetting people, Nooooooo!!!

You know I only do that when I'm playing the drum and trying to count to four at the same time

Having said that, I'm now working on the theory that its easier to count to half of eight twice.

2. The hat is not jaunty, it's perfectly staight, GFs head was a bit askew when the pic was taken (I had nothing to do with the askewing)
greenfairy

I need no help in being askew thanks Mac, it's my natural state of being....surely most folks have realised that by now.

I am, however, easily corrupted in to doing things like staying parked at the bar until closing talking shite....normally I stay at home being a good girl

Speaking of the general day-to-day tour activities - Fairy in Heaven

D'you kow, I had dreams about that place last night....must be withdrawls
Hornblower

That's a good note you're getting out of that pint GF!

Couldn't quite suss the fingering - was it F#?

Definitely not flat...
greenfairy

Why thankee HB. I think!

Somehow I'm thinking that I really need to give up beer again!

Everyone was such a bad influence on poor, sweet, innocent little old me
Quasijock

Hi y'all, Just wanted to say very many thanks to all the Nelson Vollies for making me feel so welcome. We all had a great time, played hard and worked harder.
We did the RN proud and lets hope you get an invite back next year and invite me back too.
Congrats to Neil for his admin and getting everything together, couldn't have gone smoother.
See you all at the festival where I hope to have a few more beers with you all........................
Apricot

Likewise if the talk about the Mantovani Orchestra tour to Scandinavia and possibly Ireland turns to something more than just talk.
