Hi,

My name is David, I am 15 years old and I live in Kirriemuir in Scotland. I have been interested in joining the Royal Marines Band Service for around 3 years. I play trombone, cello, piano, keyboard, classical and electric guitar - but gimme an instrument for five minutes alone and I'll get a note out of it.

Happy New Year,

David

P.S. I'm not afraid of Aardvarks!

Hello David

Im jolly glad you have thought about joining the RMB. You seem just the ticket. Bravery will get you a long way in the service. One of our lads just got a gong from the Queen for standing up to us aardvarks. Very brave lad indeed.

Well well David...nice to see another "local boy makes good" appearance on the Forum. You could do an awful lot worse in life than the RMB. You already seem to have an excellent musical grounding, not to mention the "patter factor"..With clearance from your parents I would be more than happy to help you in any way I can if you do decide to apply to HM Finest..

"C'mon the Jocks."..

Hi Rab,

Davids dad here - you have my full permission to beat the 'little darling' into shape (if that's at all possible). He's not looking to join up until at least 17 (get his Highers first), but as in all things in life, it makes sense to prepare as far in advance as possible, no?

Regards

Hello David's Dad..I hope..The best preparation I would advise is to stay away from ciggies, drugs and naughty boys..I know that's near impossible in Kirrie, but it could be worse..He could be down here in Blair amongst us lot..I will PM you soon..

Oh and feed him well on Visocchi's Ice Cream

Rab, ciggies and drugs definitely out. Naughty boys? The lad has got himself a reputation as a 'stopper' of trouble in school (5ft 11in, 11½ stone, mostly muscle). Visocchis? Just after the festering season and all the massive consumption of scran involved? Rice cakes and water, more like! Anyway, if we feed him any more he'll just keep growing - costs a blimmin' fortune in kit as it is!

Any assistance more than welcome

Pete
