|
|
More details to follow but in short:
There will be a dedication of six bells and one of them is for The Royal Marines at a church in Alton on the evening of Sunday October 8th 2006. As soon as we have the remainder of the information it will be published here. All are invited to attend the dedication ceremony so don't be too quick in leaving Pompey after the reunion, you have a stop to make.
Wait out
Deli

Why Alton Deli. Is it because the PDM comes from there?? _________________ One is hardly sensible of fatigue while he marches to music.

The service will take place at All saints Church at Alton on the evening of Sunday 8th October at 6pm. It will last approx 30mins. There are 6 bells and the large Tenor bell is to be dedicated to the Memory of the 11 Royal Marines Musicians who died as a result of the bombing in Deal on the 22nd September 1989.
The Bishop of Basingstoke will give the blessing and Jane Walker, Bob Simmons' Sister will give the address. Jane has raised the money to purchase the bells through fund raising. There will be a champagne celebration after the short service.
Alton church is in the centre of the Town easily found opposite the BP garage. There is parking in the car park at the church hall.
Everyone is welcome _________________ http://www.royalmarinesbands.co.uk

Excellent idea and a fitting memorial. Unusual, but somewhat appropriate.
Congratulations and well done to Jane for all her efforts. _________________ Two guys are drinking in a bar. One says, "Did you know that lions have sex 10 to 15 times a night?" "BUGGER !" says his friend. "I just joined Rotary." |
