Stumbled across this website and was overcome by nostalgia! 30 years ago next year I joined the School of music in Deal along with about 30 others who formed 3/76 troop.
A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then. Invalided out in 1982 as the result of a degenerative desease in my spine. A problem that has left me the victim of surgeons knives and physioterrorism. All sems well at the oment and I am busy working for an international charity supporting seafarers world wide. Ordained in 1990 I was the minister of churches in Camberley, Northampton and Ashford, Middlesex. 3 years ago I accepted an invitation to become Principal Chaplain and Asst Gen Sec of the British & International Sailors' Society. I am responsible for developing caplaincy services in 90 ports in about 30 countries worldwide. Visits made to Ghana last week, India three weeks ago as well as Australia, The Ukraine, Russia, Madagascar, Belgium, USA, Brazil and the Philippines to name a few places I have visited this year.
Married to Ann (25 years 06) with three kids, Ellen (22) Han (20) and Ed (16).
Glad to hear from anyone who remembers me.
Cheers,
David Potterton

Hi dave. great to hear you are doing so well.....especially after you fell from the top bunk on a trip once ( HERMES I THINK) which knocked you out and we carried all 6' whatever of you to the sick bay without a stretcher and kept snagging your legs on the pipes all the way.
Still on the creme de menth???

Hi David
Just the thought of Noddy Heal sends me into cold sweat, remember how he hated evrybody, especially anyone who happened to be taller than himself (couldn't see the top of your head to see if you had fluff on yer berret)
You seemto be livung a very fulfilling life, it was alays obvious that you would eventually be called to the ministry.
Drop me a line sometime - Colin Hartley (3/76 Troop - am I hurting you, I should be i'm standing on your hair) |

Do you think that the little fall out of your bunk escapade had anything to do with your spine problem? and if that was drink induced then it would be classed as self inflicting. A man of the cloth now then, perhaps you might know Graham Hitchens who has also gone over to the religious side of things? Nice to see that you have not forgotten your roots. Nice of you to pop in and introduce yourself. _________________ One is hardly sensible of fatigue while he marches to music.
