Can't be having that now

Just wondering something - yesterday after rehearsal CMN said that the new Irn Bru advert with the goths reminded him of me......now I'm a bit really as I never thought I was anywhere near gothlike (even a smiling one!)

Please tell me it's just him being his usual insane self cos I don't think I can afford all the make-up

Although it's probably not really helping my cause that I've just downloaded an album called In Sorte Diaboli (and I'm thoroughly enjoying it thanks - for some reason I find it very relaxing)

To make this not completely pointless - don't forget it's rehearsal at 6 on Thursday....I might even manage to march in a straight line this time! Bloody piccolo...so much easier to march with a clarinet

Erm - well - actually, when I met you in the good old US of A I did think at first that you were a tad goth-esk. I noticed coz I am a closet pagan but I have to scrub up in posh stuff for work and at 'home' as I live in the mess.

Maybe it's my air of cheerfulness that gives off a goth vibe then she says sitting at work wearing a floor-length black skirt, black & white top and black jacket.....ok, maybe he has a point!

I shall be a goth who likes ABBA then

Maybe a look through your record (or CD) collection might reveal the hidden Goth in you!

Here's a brief checklist:

UK Decay
X-mal Deutschland
Play Dead
March Violets
1919
Ritual
Leitmotiv
In Excelsis

Or maybe the more commercial Goth stuff:

Sisters of Mercy
Rosetta Stone
Fields of the Nephilim
Skeletal Family
Bauhaus
The Mission
All About Eve
The Cult

Or the Alternative/Industrial stuff Goths liked:

Death In June
Frontline Assembly
Front 242
Killing Joke
The Bolshoi

Or the Post Punk and chart friendly:

Siouxsie and the Banshees
The Cure

Or even the teeny Goth stuff like:

Marylin Manson
Cradle of Filth

You obviously never went to Scathe!

A group of around seven of us were THAT (>|<) close at getting arrested for fly-posting the forthcoming Goth night (Scathe) all down Commercial Rd. very early one morning back in about 1991 - we all had posters, brushes and glue with us, but the Police bid us a good morning and a safe journey home!

And how come nearly all Scots I know or speak to like Siouxsie?

I may have listened to the above at some point through the last 10-12 years or so.....but that doesn't make me a goth cos I also listen to ABBA quite a lot and other definitely non-scary stuff! And there's none of it on my iTunes cos I think I got rid of most of those cds years ago (other than my Dimmu Borgir ones cos I still can't get enough of them) Also randomly I'm a little addicted to www.hardrockin80s.com

Hi GF. I realy must try not to let just anything out of my head.
You're no Goth - it was the image of frown turned upside down by a can of drink that somehow triggered the link. Keep smilling.
