Did you know that a 38 strong Royal Naval Volunteer Band went to Portsmouth, Virginia, USA in May 2007 to play in the 123rd National Memorial Parade AND four concerts.
Well they want us to come again. Parade and only 2 concerts.
Your bandy will be shortly getting a broad outline and a request for names of those interested so if you think you would like to go watch the notice board.

| Sounds good, oh feline one! Hopefully not around May the 8th though. That's Flora Day in Helston - can't miss that! |

Am I invited back???
If so, 'God Bless America'!!!!
I fear, however, that I may be busy on Her Majesties newest Submarine.
There's no RNVB in Barrow-in-Furness, so I won't receive a formal invite, but I'm sure if you ask around some one will get the details to me!
If I'm not there, then good luck to all who go!
(Well done Nelson VBI!!!!) _________________ Paradiddles? Never 'erd of 'em!!!! |

| Out of curiosity...when you were in "Pompy" USA...where did you stay and did you have any contacts with the Atlantic Fleet Band across the river at the Naval Air Station? |

Breaking news is that I will not be in post as VBI from end of Jan 08.
HOWEVER my replacement appears as keen as you are to make this gig happen.
Hi mrbassbone, we were guest of the Portsmouth Sister Cities commission back in May this year and were looked after extremely well by host families in and around the city.
We didn't make contact with the Atlantic Fleet Band on this first trip but if the RNVB make it over the pond for a the 124th parade in May 08 then perhaps the two bands could link up. Please let me know what you have in mind: social / gig or both? |

IF I was still active and living there, I would try to hook up. But I am now retired from the US Navy and living in Orlando as Miss "A" found out. |

The above link will take you to the Atlantic Fleet Band's website. You can contact them to arrange a get together or gig. When Barb and I were both stationed with them, we hosted Royal Marine Bands on several occasions as well as a Russian Naval band and a Russian Army Band. |
