Believe it or not, we're all adults here!
The Royal Navy Volunteer Bands exist to provide an extra curricular activity for serving Naval personnel and civilians attached or connected to ships and establishments. However the bands have no operational role. _________________ Rammit, I'm RDP |

MC901,
Just checked out your postings on you tube,
It's great!
I think you will get lots of good 'Pointers' on this site....
you can also follow the link to the Royal Marine Band Forum, and have a wee chat with some of the professionals,
the guys that use the forum have hundreds of years experiance between them, and always have good words of advice or encouragement to offer (usually just before they hijack your thread, and go a wee bit mad!!)
But you can always ask at the drummers grot for views and advivce on how the kids could do better at banging their drums!!!
Good luck!
(and if your stuck, send a nice wee pm to 'admin', he'll put you on the right track) _________________ Paradiddles? Never 'erd of 'em!!!! |

Thanks for the comment its much appreciated.
I would like to think that as the kids get more experience and we grow our selection of tunes the band will go from strength to strength.
now we have a core of tunes and players we are going to try and expand the playing so that we play ensembles rather than seperatley due to the different keys etc.
We are currently working on the British Grenadier as the you tube video is the first time we ever played that in public and also A life on the ocean wave. Then we are going to go for the black adder theme tune.
If anybody has any suggestions of good tunes that are fairly simple to learn that would be great - baring in mind we have a range of experience ranging from pre grade 1 to grade 7.
thanks for the positive vibe guys it does help, however small the comment. also the kids love to see the comments on you tube so if you get a chance to check us out please do.

This one is a video that the kids have made themselves which I think shows their commitment to the unit - Please excuse the spelling though!!

Hi Sam!
Sorry I was looking for you on the RM Band site not this one!
I've put the clips up on the "other side" to see what response they get on there. All I can say is ..... have you warned Paul about "that" pick on the last clip? |
