I think it should remain with Dave until He is ready to hand it over - there is no better thing for something like Koln (hark at my experience!!!) than the gift of knowledge and experience in order to make the event work and be the best it can be.

Great Photos Bob - clearly underutilised

Having said that Alex, Dave had little info on the practicalities of how the week panned out when he took over and just ran with it and did a fantastic job.  I'm sure his relief will do the same.  Playing devil's advocate as well, it might not be all that easy for the new Bandy to have Dave there on his first year.  That said, I'd really want him to be there and still don't think it will be as good without him.

must admit I agree with Anne on that it might be difficult for the new guy, but hey... we can but try!! Now i reckon he should join the buglers for a laugh (alaaf!!) or at least play the cymbals - that way we can guarantee a decent ching in semper fid!!! (Sorry Al, no offence, just thinking you'll be on a beach somewhere!!)

As to whether he's seen the photos yet, I doubt it   but they'd make a great leaving prezzie for him so no-one spill... or else!!!

I agree Anne, plus Dave would still get used as a crutch if things went wrong and I think he'd hate that.  Best to let our new bandy ( Tim )  get on with it, at least for the first year anyway.

What we need to try and do is get more VBIs there.  I think it should be compulsory!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone
