I've heard that the America 2008 trip has been cancelled due to spiralling costs. Can anyone confirm this for definite?

If it is true, and as chances are a lot of us have booked the time off already, why don't we arrange something for the weekend we were supposed to be away (23-25 May)?
Who's for, who's against?
Pompey, Guzz, or Faslane areas? (Or even Barrow to keep me happy?)
Cheap hotels, tents, MQs or mates' houses?

These are just some early thoughts.
Post yours.

we're in Pompey for the fest only a few weeks later, somewhere different I think! Somewhere in between London, Portsmouth, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Scotland...

oh look.. I think we're in Bristol!!! result!

You could stay in the kennel but you wouldn't fit

I vote for a world record attempt - How many people can actually fit in the kennel at once :-)

I've been doing a bit of research. Heron is approx. half way between Guzz and Pompey (sorry Neptune), so I've looked at campsites in that area. I've come up with 2 so far. These are just examples to givean idea of cost.
Feel free to add any more ideas...

LONG HAZEL PARK High Street, Sparkford, Yeovil, Somerset  BA22 7JH
http://www.sparkford.f9.co.uk/lhi.htm
2 people, 1 tent, 1 car, £16 per night

Bowdens Crest Caravan & Camping Park, Bowdens, Langport, Somerset TA10 0DD
http://www.bowdenscrest.co.uk/
2 people, 1 tent, 1 car, £10-15 per night, depending on tent size

Faslane is good, but the midgies put me off camping there. We did do it a few years ago, staying in the MQs on a short term thing. It was good fun. It was where the rubber-flying-helmet-silly-hat started. Also, ask Chrissy about the fake 'taches!

Id be up for that - Camping in VL, or anywhere really.  Could all go to Cornwall for the weekend camping, I wont be here, but will come down for it.  Plenty of campites, caravan sites etc around the areas!?  Let me know if you want me to look into something.  I have a suggestion though......One person (maybe two) should take the lead on organising or else it wont get off the ground.  I vote Axl seeing as he started it !!  Sorry Chum !!!!!
