I've just been reading about the origins of Flora Day, and how the fire-drake attacked Helston, so all the good people ran away leaving behind the old and the weak to perish. Forshame on you! But hurrah for St. Michael.

Yes thanks. We had a great day and the weather held off until the end of the midday dance. Gill and myself played for the children's and midday dances as guest players, whilst Seahawk and Helston Band members Nathan Toothill (Eb bass) and Ben Martin (bass drum) played for all four dances and marched the full 16 miles. I think Barry Trevena (cornet) also played for the children's and midday, as well as boosting his bank balance in what must be the most profitable day for the Red Lion, of which he is the landlord. Also Simon and Tracy Dunkley (ex Heron band) danced as part of the Culdrose contingent for the midday dance.
If I can find some decent photos I'll post them here.

829 nas, richmond flight even got in on the act. we had our own flora day on andros island.  being the only lass on the flight the guys had to borrow a few dresses from someone else (not me) so that we had anough mixed partners.  it was rather hard to try and explain to the americans what the hell we were doing.  it was a laugh though.  i think we are getting a video up somewere, perhaps you tube.
