Will this be Ark Royal or THE Ark Royal as in 'squirt planes off the front Ark Royal?'

Actually I am not a trekkie, but couldn't resist finding that one.

Anyway, about the 2 Ark Royals i was on, and the 2 Rasher Bacons ???

I first went on the Ark Royal (1) in 1977, when as a green sprog (still am), DOM at FOSNI (TF) gave me a 24 hr notice pierhead jump to chopper out to the Ark on the Moray Firth to dep for Rasher Bacon (1) who was temporarily sick. Didn't know the band, never been on ship, and had never been to..............HAMBURG.

HAMBURG Stories - too numerous / too funny / would need censoring

(may tell all one day when in the mood. You know who you are).

I think it may have been geoff comber who looked after me one eve ?

Anyway, i was only there for a three week stint before TF called me back to Caledonia, on the last possible day the Ark was in range.

But....here's a photo. I need you all to identify everyone in it.
[][/img]

Actually, I don't think I've missed anyone, correct me if I'm wrong, but there was a couple of chefs, and naafi guys in there (how else could we be endlessly supplied), and.........

Trickle Waterfield - top left. (his face looks good if you go close up and invert - Deli can you do this? !!!)

Dick Stapleton - with flies open (as usual)

Ian Ashton

Hammy

An Usher

Brian Twink Starr

Within the middle bit is me being suffocated by Tim Smye Rumsby, Colin Brown, Mac McDermott, Geoff Comber, Les Sheppard, John Whelton (Boss), Mac Magill, George Tate, Gilly. so anyone I've missed?

By the way in this photo - is George the only one still serving ?

Mark (Bids)

P.S - Dits from Ark Royal (2) coming soon !!!!!! (and Rasher Bacon 2)

Almost impossible mate, you are looking at hours of hard work to do something like this... software that is not invented yet and a guru of Yoda's skills to even think about that

DOH
I think George must be the only one serving...

I think both the Sharps should be in there somewhere , I wish I could remember the guy with the ginger hair's name , he had a brother who went in the Greenjackets along with Tosh Toye. Turner ?

A prayer would help some but most will need... a miracle or three!

Gilly..............the photo was taken the night of yours and Hammy's birthday (it says so on the back of the phot).

Both you and Geoff are absolutely right, we can't say anything about that trip, mainly because we were all so quiet and sensible types ?????

Anyway, speak soon, mates.

Mark

Chosps.
There is one or two guy's names that are missing from the picture of Gillys and Hammys Birthday Bash, and that's Geordie Renwick (Bugler) directly under Rog Waterfirelds head, and also Richard "Taff" Clarke, (honorary Badger, French Horn Holder extraordinaire) he's just to the left and rear of Mac McD. I also remember the names of two of the chefs in the phote. Gerry Arthur, middle left, big smile, and also Frenchy. He's the guy hanging down from the bunk on the left with his finger in the assistant NAAFI manager's ear. From what I remember Frenchy had a little more than that in him on another occasion which led to him being drafted outside!!!!!! This phot was also taken in the "Glamour Gulch"! 2KA4 Mess as I remember. Nice to hear from you Bidd's, are you still supporting those Scummers!!!!!!....

Yes, still supporting scummers, languishing in the depths of "division 2". Still someone has got to do it, as well as the current PDM !!!

So, booty bandy, I am leaving messages everywhere on here for you. Please, get back to me.

I think I know who you are now. There can't be that many who know everyone on the 2KA4 gilly birthday bash photo, and have Mac's Xmas medley demo tape. This probably means that you have put up with me for a fair part of your career.

Let me identify you with one clue word from Ark Royal 1977: "whip" ?

Take care

Bidds

I'm trying to remember that young Bandy who threw up his brekkies in front of THE Commander (Beano) on the Ark when the Bootneck Band were performing for Colours in the 70's, A young man by the name of COMBER springs to mind.....Yuck.........Booty :O)
